New Office Location Now Open

On Monday, May 6th, 2019, the Harriman Utility Board officially “opened for business” at the recently renovated location at 200 N. Roane Street. Previously the location of Regions Bank, the building has been transformed into a modern, efficient, and welcoming space by Stewards Construction, General Contractors over the last nine months.

The new location features added conveniences such as a drive-through window for bill payment, on-site ATM provided by Enrichment Credit Union, and an attractive main lobby. Also featured within are artistic elements celebrating the history of Harriman going back to the 1890s. Project Leaders, Mr. Jim Neeley, and Mr. Tony Watson, have devoted hundreds of hours, along with a great deal of support from all departments, to bring this vision to life.

The original and iconic Harriman Utility Building at 300 N. Roane Street is now closed, and future plans regarding that location will be considered by the City in cooperation with HUB.

Now open for daily business, HUB plans a Grand Opening on June 21st of this year, and welcomes all customers and citizens of Harriman to come by and visit them in their new home.

Strategic Plan for HUB

HUB’s Management Team has worked hard to identify and quantify the areas we need to expand or improve upon in order to become the best public utility in the State. Improvements such as implementing an Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) will allow us added flexibility in managing customer accounts and interruptions in service. Additionally, replacement of aging gas lines, and improvements to our Water and Waste-Water systems are vital in maintaining our high quality of service. These, and many other changes aimed at fulfilling our mission of enhancing our community through exceptional service require a consistent, intentional approach.

This year, HUB has rolled-out an ambitious 5-Year Strategic Plan incorporating input from all departments, and approved by our Board of Directors. More than just a “to-do” list, the Strategic Plan features key details, milestones, and responsibilities that are further explained in an annual Tactical Action Plan, which will be updated each and every year.
