12/2007 - 100 MVA three phase transformer

The Harriman Utility Board took delivery of the new 100 MVA three phase transformer that will replace the three (3) existing single phase transformers at the Harriman Primary substation in August 2007. The old transformers were manufactured in 1958 and have been in service continuously at the site since the early 1960’s.This has been an expensive, but much needed improvement in order to insure reliable electric service to the customers served by the HUB, according to General Manager Chuck Flora. New electronic relay and control panels, switchgear and yard expansion will put the cost close to 3 million dollars. If everything goes as scheduled, we should be on line by Spring 2008 according to Flora.
